FIFA will seek independent legal advice before holding an extraordinary council meeting by July 20 to make a decision on a Palestinian proposal to suspend Israel from international soccer because of the conflict with Hamas. FIFA president Gianni Infantino has outlined the plan at the FIFA congress after representatives of the Palestinian and Israel football federations had a chance to speak in front of the 211 member associations. Infantino said a vote wouldn't be held in the congress because it was a matter for the FIFA council. He says “FIFA will mandate independent legal expertise to analyze the three requests" from the Palestinian FA "and ensure the statutes of FIFA are applied in the right way.”
Former Turkey coach Fatih Terim has announced his departure from Greek club Panathinaikos with one game still left this season. The 70-year-old Terim said he was ending his five-month stint with the club after a meeting with the owners. Liverpool has announced their imminent departures two days before the team’s final Premier League game. The 32-year-old Matip is a ball-playing center back who arrived at Anfield on a free transfer from Schalke in the offseason of 2016 as one of Klopp’s first signings. Thiago is a former Spain midfielder who has spent four years with Liverpool but injuries have limited him to 98 appearances.
